COLOR

Sea of Illusion is a limited edition release from the South Korean brand Tono & Lims. It is a lovely slightly desaturated cobalt blue.

CHARACTER

This ink has medium-low shading and absolutely no sheen. It's surprisingly rare to come across a blue that is this dark without any sheening.

The ink is light enough to show the shading fairly nicely in broad nibs. In fine nibs, it

CONSISTENCY

This is a decently wet ink. It flows really nicely out of the pen, but works best on premium papers. It does have some concerns with bleedthrough on a number of paper types. On cheaper paper it feathers like crazy, which is very unfortunate.

CONCLUSION

There is something about this particular shade of blue that always draws me in. I love writing with this ink and I'm always keeping an eye out for similar inks. It may have some feathering issues that make me cautious to use it in wetter nibs when not journalling, but I enjoy the color enough to work past that.

This ink was marketed as a limited edition ink, and Tono & Lims can be harder to find here in the States. I purchased this bottle from Shigure Inks.
