COLOR
Herbin Perle Noire is a dark neutral black with a very faint bronze sheen.

CHARACTER

This is a lovely dark black. It's a well-lubricated ink with no shading and rare to no sheen. When ink pools in swatches the sheen is a dark bronze, but it's rare to catch any sheen in regular writing.
CONSISTENCY

Perle Noire is a wet ink that has a longer dry time, but it behaves well on most papers. The longer dry time can lead to some concerns with smearing, and I did have some slight bleedthrough on mid-range papers.

CONCLUSION
I love how black this ink is. It's nice to have one that I can trust to be black rather than dark charcoal gray, but without the extra upkeep and maintenance needed for an ink like Platinum Carbon Black.
