COLOR

Morningside Mint is a very light, appropriately minty green ink. It was part of Ferris Wheel Press' Spring collection in 2021. In swatches and with dip pens, I really like this color. It's more of an accent/artsy ink rather than a journaling ink due to how light it is.

I wish this ink could retain this color and somehow be more legible in writing. I really like the subtle mix of green and a hint of blue that is present in swatches, but it's so hard to get that to translate to the page.

CHARACTER
ree

On the one hand, there is a lot of shading present with this ink. On the other hand, it's such a light ink that it's really only readable when there is a lot of ink on the paper. I find myself pushing for my pen to put more ink on the paper so I can read anything.

CONSISTENCY
ree

I found Morningside Mint to be a bit dry, which made it harder to see and get an appreciable amount of shading to show.

I only encountered a very small amount of feathering on the cheapest of papers.

Because I found myself pushing so much harder to try to get any ink out of the pen and onto the paper in the hopes of making it more readable, I really started to get hand cramps when writing with this one. Couple that with the eye strain of not being able to see the light color as easily, and it becomes a very tricky ink to use.

CONCLUSION

I have a problem in that I love seeing the dainty and bright colors of lighter tone inks, but when I actually decide to use them they're so tricky to use correctly. It is fun to use as an artsy doodle ink to add accents to a page, but as a writing ink I really struggle to read this one. It's fun in theory and a pain in practice.
