COLOR
Blue Velvet is a very intense medium Persian blue. It's a bright and bold color! This color was produced for the 150th Anniversary of Diamine as a brand.
Medium blues are such an interesting and diverse range of blues. I love how pure 'blue' this one is.

CHARACTER

This ink features a bright red-pink sheen that shows up on premium papers. It also has a delightful amount of shading, which is fun to see in a color as bold as this. On paper like the Colorverse Nebula notebook, the sheen and shading combine to make the darker portions show through with almost a purple tone.
CONSISTENCY

Blue Velvet is a decently wet ink, but it also doesn't do too badly on cheap paper. For a fairly concentrated/sheening ink it also performs pretty good in the pen! It has a relatively fast dry time compared to other sheening inks.
It does do better in pens that have a better cap seal. I find that it is not one that I would trust in a pen that I already know is prone to hard starts.

CONCLUSION
It's hard to beat a good medium blue! I rather like the 'pie slice' design of the triangular anniversary bottles too - I wish I had acquired a few more of the series to see them placed together in a circle! This ink is fairly similar to other blues in my collection, but it's still a lot of fun. I have a soft spot for inks that simultaneously shade and sheen for that surprise pop of unexpected color contrast.
Diamine Blue Velvet is available at most stationery retailers.
