The Moonman (Majohn) M800 draws its visual style from the Leonardo Momento Zero. It is made of a slightly translucent dark green and black resin mixed with a generous amount of silver shimmer that adds a satisfying chatoyance at certain angles. It is trimmed in gold with a lovely two-toned Bock nib.

I like the effect of having both a double cap band and another band at the top of the barrel. The three gold bands contrast very nicely. This is another design choice 'inspired' by the Leonardo Momento Zero, but it's so pretty in green and gold I just have to mention it.

TACTILE

This pen is a very comfortable size to hold. It feels nice in the hand. The section is decently wide, but short, so I appreciate that the cap threads are shallow and not uncomfortable when my fingers rest on them.

The material is smooth and polished and finished well. Even at the seams, the different pieces fit together nicely and don't have any weird misalignments.

PRACTICAL
ree

This pen uses a tried-and-true pen shape and design, so I do find that it works very well. It posts well, fits great in my hand, and

The best part of this pen, by far, is the Bock nib. This particular nib is one of my favorites. I think I lucked out as this nib writes like a dream - it's very wet, super smooth, and it makes me happy. This model was sold with both a Moonman (Majohn) nib option as well as the Bock option for a higher price. I snagged both and much prefer the Bock nib.

OVERALL

Pros:

  • Beautiful pen with a lot of depth and great color contrast with the trim

  • Amazing Nib!

Cons:

  • I wish they had taken a few creative choices when being 'inspired' by an iconic pen design to make this their own.

This is a great pen for the price, and a good way to try out a more expensive pen design before taking the leap.
