VISUAL

The Kaweco Sport is one of the quintessential pocket pens. It is simple, straightforward, and elegant in its simplicity.

Iridescent Pearl was released in 2022 as a limited edition. It is made of a translucent pearlized injection molded plastic that shifts between light pink and minty green hues. It is fairly translucent, giving a peek at the ink level inside.

TACTILE

The Kaweco Sport is a small pen that weighs almost nothing. It has a noticeable crease on the bottom of the cap that occasionally catches my fingers. This line seems more prominent in the Iridescent Pearl than it does in my other Kaweco Sports - I'm not sure if that's a factor of the slightly different material, or if it's just my particular pen.

The plastic material of the Iridescent Pearl seems slightly different to the standard model's as well - it seems a bit less 'crisp' in the faceting on the cap. It's not a bad thing, but interesting to note!

PRACTICAL

I have fun with this pen being such a light pocket pen while it is holding a double broad nib. This double broad is very smooth and writes very well, even when I abuse it with high shimmer inks.

The cap unscrews in one and a quarter turns and posts deeply and securely. It can technically be used unposted, but it doesn't feel great. When posted it is a very comfortable length and feels very balanced in the hand.

OVERALL

Pros:

  • Lightweight and portable

  • Unique color and finish

  • Juicy double broad nib

  • Ink View

Cons:

  • Cartridge only

  • 'Cheap' feel of injection molded plastic

  • Visible ink cartridge interrupts the 'light and airy' feel

I like this colorful iteration of the classic Sport pocket pen design. It puts a lot of fun into a tiny package, and the color is fairly unique in my collection.

I purchased this pen from PenChalet.
