VISUAL

The Hongdian 660 is a medium sized cigar-shaped pen made of a rich, dark brown wood. The clip and cap band are black chrome metal. After uncapping, a fun little detail is revealed - behind the cap threads on the barrel, a small swirled pattern is present. It's a subtle design, but I like the extra touch it provides!
The nib is black, which I appreciate in dark pens. The wood is dyed a very dark black, but the brown is still present. In bright light, the wood grain is only just slightly visible.
TACTILE
There is something satisfying about the feel of this pen. The wood itself has a satin finish and the material itself provides a very faint bit of texture. Being wood, it has a warmth that resin or metal pens do not have. It also has a decent balance and weight for its size.
The section is plastic, and is comfortably wide. For a pen that is comparable in size to a Pilot Metropolitan, I do appreciate that this one has a wider section!
PRACTICAL

I really like this EF nib! It works very nicely, and for a colored nib it also is decently smooth.
This pen posts comfortably and I don't feel any major dragging or grabbing of the cap on the wooden body. I have not noticed any signs of wear, and it feels like the cap is grabbing more from the inner liner rather than the inner threads.

OVERALL
Pros:
Warm wood construction
Well balanced and easy to write with
Cons:
Softer material may be prone to scratching/staining (hasn't happened yet, but I try to be careful!)
I don't have many wooden pens, and I wish I had more. I really like the way that it feels in the hand. I've had this pen for about four years now and occasionally it falls under the radar due to its unassuming nature, but every time I ink it up I'm glad for the chance to write with it!
