VISUAL

The Esterbrook Camden is a large classic pen entirely made of anodized aluminum. The brushed metal texture is rather nice. There is something about the combination of of the color and texture that really catches the light and makes this pen glow.
At the base of the cap, there is a thin band and the brand name lightly engraved into the cap, enough to cut through the anodization. This detail appears darker than the pen color when in light and lighter when in shadow, which is a rather fun detail.
TACTILE
The brushed metal texture is very interesting. It is a satisfying texture, and at least to my perception it feels cooler to the initial touch than a non-textured aluminum.
The section is also made of brushed aluminum. As much as I enjoy the texture, because the grain runs parallel to the pen, it makes gripping this pen a bit of a challenge. I find myself relying on the cap threads to add a bit of extra grip. At least those threads are fairly smooth and not an issue to hold.
PRACTICAL

The #6 Schmidt nib in this pen is a fairly reliable one. It has a bit of feedback to it and is a bit of a dry writer, but it does a decent job.
The most frustrating part of this pen, to me, is the fact that it is shaped in such a way as to easily be able to post the cap. However, one of the helpful features of Esterbrook caps is their cushion closure feature. This is great for when the cap is working as intended. However, when attempting to post this cap, it makes this pen into a loaded weapon. The slightest bump will make this cap suddenly rocket off the end of the barrel when posting. I enjoy posting my pens, so I have to constantly resist the urge to post the cap. It is impressive how far the cap can fly!

OVERALL
Pros:
Very shiny, fairly unique appearance
Reliable writer
Cons:
A bit of a challenge to grip
Rocket-loaded posting is very nervewracking
I was a bit surprised to see that the classic Camden had been discontinued recently in favor of resin versions. It's a beautiful pen, but I believe Esterbrook does an awesome job with swirly fancy resins so it makes sense. I find that this pen, being a solid, lighter color, can be a bit forgettable in a world of fancy colorful pens.
